How do I wear in my corset?
Wearing in a corset is simple and takes around 2 weeks depending on the fabric and construction of the corset. Start off by wearing it for short periods of time everyday. In the beginning, don't lace it too tight. Always wear a shirt under it and that will make it more comfortable during the wearing in process. Wear the sorset for an hour a day gradually increasing the time an hour at a time until you are able to wear it all day. This takes around two weeks depending on the fabric of the corset. You will find after about an hour you are able to tighten the laces a little. You will continue to do this during the process.
What are the parts of a corset?
Busk is closures consisting of metal loops and studs. Bones are metal or plastic and help support the vertical tension and has no effect on the shaping aspect of the corset. Lacing is the ribbon or lace that tightens and adjusts the fit and shaping of the corset. They are tied in the middle of the back of the corset at the waist. Lacing Gap is the open space between the two sides of the corset at the back. The gap when properly fitted can range from 2" to 4". Modesty Panel is a piece of fabric designed to cover the lacing gap under the laces.
How do I put a corset on?
First open the busk and lay the corset out. Open the laces all the way. Put the corset on with the laces on the back, closing the busk in front. Start at the top and tighten the laces up moving towards the middle. Tighten up the bottom laces up to the middle. Take the "bunny ears" created in the middle and give the corset a final tightening. Tie off the "bunny ears" in a bow and weave the excess back into the laces to create a flat back.
